A healthy lifestyle is more than what you eat, it's a lifestyle. In nutrition school we discuss the importance of primary foods (relationships, exercise, spirituality), and secondary foods (the food you eat). On top of that, there are a number of different products we use, but don't eat, that can affect your health. Here are a number of practices and products I use to help keep me on track.

  • Body brushing
    • Ever have a stressful day and crave a foot massage? You have that to look forward to every night if you practice brushing
      • It's helpful for circulation, improves the quality of your skin, and helps you detox after a day in the grimy city!
      • This is the brush I use
  • Deodorant
    • Choosing a natural deodorant can do so much for your health
    • For the longest time I'd been eating natural foods and using natural soaps, shampoos, etc. But the one thing I couldn't switch was deodorant. I'd tried Toms of Maine and I find it actually makes you smell worse! Well recently I've been learning more about the harmful effects of aluminum and how important sweat is for your body's lymphatic system. In the past I tried making my own deodorant with baking soda, but it  Thankfully, I came across this fantastic article from well + good about natural deodorants and decided to try Schmidt's.
    • I'm happy to say it's the first natural deodorant I've tried that actually works! The Ylang-Ylang + Calendula smell is my favorite!
    • Your armpits are home to many lymph nodes and it's important that the balance of your microbes there isn't compromised by unnatural chemicals and aluminum
      • Here are some great options, courtesy of goop.com
      • I'm excited to eventually try them all
